Stealth Links – 17 September 2007

Wow there’s a lot of new content out in the blogosphere today. There’s a lot of things that I wanted to talk about it but these blogs have already said it better than I could. Check out these sites:

  • Shoemoney talks about feedburner.com titled “How to Get More RSS Subscribers Through Feedburner“. Like he said, lots of people are already using it, but maybe we’re not using it to its fullest potential. Read this article to find out how to optimize your feedburner feed.

Get more readers to your blog with BlogRush

So a lot of blogs are buzzing today about this new site called Blog Rush which has only been running for a couple of days now. Blog Rush is a free widget for your site which allows other sites or blogs with similar content to display a link to their blog. Its kind of like a blogroll but this there are added features.

With Blog Rush, for every visitor that your site generates, you will earn one impression on the Blog Rush widget on another site with similar content to yours. On top of that, for every person that signs up for Blog Rush under your account, you’ll earn an additional impression on the Blog Rush network for each visitor they receive.

So why use BlogRush?

  1. If you’re site is new, this is an awesome way to build fast traffic and subscribers
  2. If you already have a lot of visitors, they will make your visitor stats skyrocket!
  3. It’s free!

So as you can see in my sidebar, I have already downloaded the widget and installed it. If you haven’t already, I suggest going to BlogRush.com and checking it out.

Keyword Link – Adcenter vs. Adwords

OK so I recently started a campaign with both Google Adwords and Microsoft Adcenter. This is a keyword link where my ad links directly to the vendor site. After a lot of research and some keyword advice directly from the vendor, I ended up with a monster 950 keyword list. This particular vendor also allows you to bid on trademark related keywords. Keep in mind that that the vendor has a set limit on how much I can spend for a lot of these keywords. After the first day I raised all bids to $.35. Then I uploaded this entire list to both campaigns and heres my results as of now (2 days):

Adcenter

Adwords

First of all I would like to remind again that these results are coming from all 950 keywords with matching bids. Microsoft ad network is clearly doing much better than Adwords even though Adwords has way more impressions. That is a sign to me that Google is flooded with affiliates bidding on keywords pushing my bid way down to the bottom of the list. I think I have some hope with Adcenter still.

But what concerns me most is how low the number of impressions I am receiving from both campaigns. From the research I have done so far, it seems like I’m going to have to break down each list into smaller campaigns with more specialized ads for smaller groups of keywords. Since about 60% of my keywords aren’t restricted, I am going to start playing with the bids little by little till I find some kind of sweet spot. Once I get a feel for the trends on these keywords, I will be willing to pay a lot for these keywords because the vendor is willing to pay a lot just for a lead that gets a quote.

Once I have done that I will come back with performance updates.

Stealth Links – 13 September 2007

Here are some stealth links to some great articles today:

Domain Name Has Been Changed

This site was brought online just a couple of days ago but it seems stealthripper.com wasn’t my best bet. I have switched the blog name and domain to StealthEmployed.com. I chose this name because it better represents what I do on a day to day basis. I chose the words Stealth Employed as a play on words related to “self-employed” but with a twist. Being self employed and running multiple businesses can be very crazy. Many of my friends often refer to my actions as stealth becasuse I’m doing so many things while seeming to be relaxed. That is to say that I am “pulling a stealth stunts” because I’m always tweaking the network or my website or some other techy device. Anyways, thanks for visiting my website!
